Building A New House? 3 Window Treatments To Get Before Your Move-In Date

Posted on: 5 April 2021

Nothing is more obnoxious than walking into your brand-new home and suddenly realizing you have no privacy. If you are in the process of building a new home, don't wait until far past move-in day to get some window coverings. From finding some custom blinds to getting some curtains, here are a few different types of window coverings that you may want to invest in right before you move in; that way, you can get them hung right away.

Blinds

Traditional wooden blinds are great at adding privacy to just about any room in your house (especially your bedrooms and bathrooms). Available in both a thin vinyl material or in wood, blinds can also add a little bit of depth to your room as well. Just remember though that they won't necessarily block out all light in a room, which can be critical if you have little ones.

Roman Shades

Roman shades may be a better option for you if you have little kids or babies in your house. Blackout Roman shades, in particular, are designed to hug all around the window frame of your window in order to block out light at any level. And since they are one solid sheet of fabric and don't have slats in them like traditional blinds, they are really effective at getting the job done. The only thing to consider about these sorts of blinds is the fact that they may be a little bit more expensive because they are considered to be a more custom sort of window treatment.

Curtains

Curtains are a great idea for every room in your house but may end up being a bit more of a decorative solution than anything. For instance, while you may have curtains on the main floor of your house, you won't necessarily need them for extreme privacy like you would in a bedroom or bathroom. While you can shut your curtains, they may not be foolproof in regards to privacy. If you like the look of having curtains throughout your house, consider pairing them with some blinds or Roman shades to really get the whole look that you want.
